Personal Artistic History
Betsy Kelly, a painter in Rockville, MD, majored in art as an undergraduate and attended graduate school in pottery and design. After a detour career in banking, she took courses in botanical art.
Betsy is fascinated with old painting techniques and materials. Her oil paintings mix methods used by Old Masters (slowly building up many layers of paint) with her own personal techniques and contemporary compositions. She does not create many paintings in a year due to the length of time each one takes to paint.
Her work was shown at the Corcoran Gallery of Art exhibit, "Botanical Treasures of Lewis and Clark", in 2006. Her first solo show was held at the Arts Club of Washington the following year. Betsy's work was shown in a Studio 155 group exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum and at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC in 2012. Her small works were shown in a group exhibition at the Adah Rose Gallery in May and June 2014.
Betsy feels her paintings must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. For this reason, she only sells her work to individuals who are able to come to her studio. She does not make online sales. She may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
